As the club dropped to the 13th place last sunday, the cup seemed to be the only thing that could rescue the season. The expectations was high, and everyone thought that Haugesund had to leave. Everyone was disappointed.
The first half started with two teams that didn’t want to risk too much. ODD had the ball in long periods, but didn’t dare enough at the front. Not a impressive half, I must say, from any team. ODD came closest to goal, as Haugesund cleared from the line after a corner. We walked in for half time with 0-0 in the luggage.
Haugesund rocked the first part of the second half. They are strong offensively, and came to a number of shots. And in the 55th minute they broke through. Maic Sema progressed to 18 meters, and with no pressure he sent the ball into the bottom corner, leaving André Hansen no chance.
Naturally ODD had to spend more rescources offensively after that, but the big chances didn’t come. They got to lots of crosses and corners, but none of them raised Per Morten Kristiansens heartbeat. Mattias Andersson was the first one that came really close to a equalizer. Herolind Shala crossed the ball, and Andersson beated the goalie, but did also beat the goal. And just a minute later ODD had another corner, where the ball flew like a ping-pong-ball inside the box, but no one managed to put the decisive toe on it.
As everyone was up for the corner, there was miles of space for Haugesund, who won the ball. They sprinted up, and closed the game with their second goal.
Counting possession I feel it was unfair to lose this. Haugesund had two good chances, and used them well. The cup was supposed to save the season, but with todays result things are getting thighter, and ODD Grenlands situation at the moment is not good. The first opportunity to do something with it is on sunday, against Haugesund at home. Over and out!
