Aalesunds FK comes from the city of Ålesund, in the midwestern part of Norway. They play their home games at Color Line Stadion, which holds 10.778 spectators. Kjetil Rekdal, the former Bundesliga player, is their manager.
About the stadium:
Turf: Artificial. Arguably the worst of its kind in the Norwegian top flight.
Opened: 16th april 2005. Against ODD
Away Section: Never been there before, but it looks okay on pictures.
Aalesunds FK is one of the newest faces in Tippeligaen. Even though they was fomed in 1914, they was not able to make themselves noticeable before 2002, when they was promoted to the top division for the first time. And from that day and till 2007, it went up and down between the top two tiers. After hiring Kjetil Rekdal in 2008 they have enjoyed great success, as they won the cup in 2009 and 2011.
Key Player: Michael Barrantes
Undoubtably one of the best attackers in Scandinavia. The 28 year old from Costa Rica is always a threat to the opponent, and I find it weird that clubs from bigger leagues has signed him.
Young talent: Christian Myklebust
20 year old attacker who made his debut last season.
League position: 10th
Last five games:
Aalesund – Djurgården 2-1
Molde – Aalesund 3-2
Stabæk – Aalesund 0-0
Aalesund – Tromsø 0-0
Sandnes Ulf – Aalesund 1-1
Importance of this match:
ODD took the first three points last sunday, but the performances so far has been disappointing. They must show that they can do better than last time on the road (against Viking, lost 1-0). Aalesund has only made three draws, and are hunting for a win. The hungry bear meets a furious lion.
History between the clubs:
This clash does only have a 15 year old history, since the first ever meeting at old ODD Stadion in 1997 (1-1). Since then there’s been some interesting games. ODDs 5-0 beating in 1998, a promotion season, is still one of ODDs highest wins in recent time. Aalesunds Color Line stadion (Color Line is a ferry company, keep in mind) was opened in 2005, with ODD as the first opponent. The black & whites took the lead, and who else than Olivier Occean could set the sails? Aalesund won the game 2-1 after two goals in the same amount of minutes, but the game is remebered for the clearest penalty ignored by the ref in man’s mind.
A penalty ODD should have gotten of course. In 2009 AaFK hosted ODD for the cup semifinal. The oranges won a not too well played game 1-0. A game remebered for Kenneth Dokkens infamous assault on Johan Arneng. For the
last years ODD has had a good grip on Aalesund on Color Line Stadion. ODD has won the last three league games up there. Torgeir Børven has scored the matchwinner in three of his four games against Aalesund.
ODDs squad contains two players with their roots in Aalesund: Andreas Lie and Lars Kristian Eriksen.

Big mouths, as the people in that area in general. But old aunts, as makes the stands up there, usually don’t use their fists.
